NC Fusion Field Hockey has programs for girls ages u12-u19 in the Piedmont Triad Area. After working with several key members of the local field hockey community, we feel that each of these programs are set up to accommodate both players who are new to the game and also experienced players who desire a competitive field hockey club environment.

Our goal is to implement a sustainable field hockey program and provide varying levels of play across multiple age groups. Our coaches and directors create programs that are engaging and focused on developing players in a fun environment.

What is Field Hockey?

Field hockey is a field team sport similar to soccer. The game can be played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf or synthetic field. Each team plays with ten field players and a goalkeeper. Players use sticks made of wood, carbon fiber, or fiber glass, to hit a round, hard, plastic ball. The length of the hockey stick is based on the player’s individual height: the top of the stick usually comes to the players hip, and taller players typically have longer sticks. The sticks have a round side and a flat side, and only the flat face of the stick is allowed to be used. Goalies often wear leg pads, chest protector, blocking hand pads and a helmet. The uniform consists of shin guards, shoes, shorts or a skirt, a mouthguard and a jersey.

Where do I get started if I am new to field hockey?

Start out by attending one of our FREE Clinics in Winston-Salem or Greensboro. You can also jump right into the Developmental Program where we focus on developing a strong foundation and grasp of the game. You will learn the basic skills needed for field hockey in both the clinic and developmental program.

What seasons are NC Fusion Field Hockey Programs available?

There is something for everyone all year long! The NC Fusion Field Hockey Programs are available in the Winter (December – February), Spring (March – May), Summer (June – August), and Fall (September – November).
